Palmtastic CD Player, Mu:ttore
The demographic for this project are people who prefer using a CD player for better sound quality. Current models, however, have problems with tiny control buttons as well as cliché geometric shapes. The wider and bigger button on the right side enables them to easily manipulate this music player using their palm. The rotating inside CD tray makes the unit’s size smaller compared to other models and suggests a new form of CD player. (Actual Model)
Pivot Style Padlock, D.vot
Current padlocks remind us of something heavy, dull and ugly. The main theme of this project is to revise the current padlock and create a secure aesthetic as well as safe and user friendly lock. Utilizing a pivot style handle, I designed it to have a stronger locking state. Subtle changes made to every surface allows for a sleek style to the overall shape. (Alias Model)
Desk Clock, ETIM
This desk clock is designed based on product designer Jasper Morrison’s philosophy. His work tends to be minimal, simple and elegant. Jasper shows the essence of his style using the least material and parts. This works reflects my incorporation of these design elements. The top surface applies a flexible display and its angle is adjustable. On the bottom are two silver-metallic control buttons. (Alias Model)
Smart Table, TIMO
Unlike most tables used for only one purpose and having just one appearance, this table is customized to function as both a tea table and work desk. The design provides different looks for each purpose. After lifting the ‘hidden table tops’ twice, the cute tea table is transformed into a convenient desk. The front drawer can store big magazines and newspapers. (Alias Model)
Personal Digital Document Assistant, WINK
This PDDA (Personal Digital Document Assistant) works as a printer, scanner, and FAX. It is designed for career women in their thirties. Specifically, it is designed for women who need to carry such electronics due to their job but are not familiar with complex digital devices. It has an intuitive and simple interface, and is convenient to carry in bags. When it is operated for printing, scanning, and faxing, the covers slide open to accommodate letter-sized paper. (Alias Model)
Detroit Music Theater
The main inspiration for this design is the front grill of a 1950’s Buick. The automotive shape situated on the ground is aesthetically converted into an outdoor music theater. The large seating area has been designed in order to allow people to enjoy the atmosphere of the Detroit River environs. On the rear wall of the main stage, two intersecting lines help spectators visualize the music as the main subject with rhythmic movements, as well as playing an important role as a focal point inside.
