Gain hands on experience teaching and get to know a growing, national non profit
WHO: Citizen Schools is a national non-profit with sites across the country that has recently expanded to New York City. Our program serves middle-school students (grades 6-8) after school, Monday to Thursday, extending the number of hours students spend in an active learning environment.
WHAT: A core ingredient of the Citizen Schools experience is the student AIM (aspire, invest, make the grade) time, during which students prioritize and complete their homework. You would be partnered with one student or a small group of students to give homework help for one hour per day.
WHEN: The commitment could be flexible but, again, our homework program hours are from 3:30-4:30 (M, W, Th) and Tuesdays 2:30-3:30. Our program starts on September 21st and goes until mid-May. Students could sign up for just a semester (fall or spring) or all year. We are happy to work around your school/work schedule, so even making one day a week is fine.
WHERE: The Brooklyn School for Global Studies, 284 Baltic Street, Brooklyn NY
