The Philadelphia Department of Public Health is now accepting applications for its third class of Urban Health Policy Fellows. This two-year paid fellowship is designed specifically for those with baccalaureate degrees in public health. During the program, Urban Health Policy Fellows work directly with senior leaders of one of the nation’s most innovative health departments on high priority projects, while receiving on-the-job training in public health policy development. The next class of the fellowship will begin in early July 2018, and continue through June 2020.

The Urban Health Policy Fellowship

Urban Health Policy Fellows will work on priority health issues that the City is facing. Examples include opioid addiction and overdose, smoking, obesity, HIV, lead poisoning, childhood asthma, and innovative use of electronic health record data. Fellows will work on teams addressing issues such as these, and will be assigned specific projects that help the agency understand the problem, engage with stakeholders, develop policy solutions, recruit support for interventions, and/or implement policies.

To ensure that the experience is broad, Fellows will rotate among different Divisions in the health department over the two-year program. In addition, Fellows will learn about the entire agency by attending management meetings and participating in small-group sessions with internal and external public health experts. The Fellows will also benefit from the mentorship of Urban Health Policy Fellows who are in their second year of fellowship.

You are eligible to apply if you have graduated in the last two years (or before July 1, 2018) from a

college or university in the United States with a baccalaureate degree and a major in public health, global

2018 International Health Expeditions Schedule:

Himalayan Health Exchange will organize the following medical/dental camps in the remote Trans- Himalayan regions of north India and Indo-Tibetan Borderlands in 2018. Participation is open to physicians/ residents, nurses & medical and nursing students. Faculty members are welcome to join any expedition. Each camp is designed to provide care to approximately 1,500 underserved patients and an opportunity for international health exposure to participants. Student and resident participation is limited to 30 on each trip.

CEQ Internship Opportunity: The White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) is currently accepting applications for the 2018 year. CEQ oversees implementation of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and assists in the development of national environmental policies. Job Requirements

Requirements: CEQ seeks undergraduate and graduate students, as well as recent graduates who are highly motivated, willing to contribute where needed, and able to exercise professional judgment. In addition, applicants must be U.S. Citizens. There are no curricular requirements for selection; however, CEQ prefers applicants whose coursework or work experience demonstrates an interest in environment, energy, or natural resources issues. CEQ gives preference to applicants who are available to work full-time but also will consider applicants who are seeking a part-time position. Most interns work a typical semester-based schedule, but a position may be customized based on the applicant’s availability and project needs. CEQ will work with students who seek school credit for their uncompensated, volunteer service to CEQ.
