The Career Services Department at Southwestern Illinois College would like to share with you all of the wonderful opportunities and initiatives we have to connect with students! If you are interested in scheduling a meeting to discuss these opportunities further, please contact our office at (618) 222-5562 or As always, our office is always open to new ideas for helping your company achieve your  goals.

"Meet the Employer"

This event serves as a recruitment tool for employers, as well as an opportunity for students and employers to network with one another. It consists of a presentation from the employer that includes any information to be communicated to job seekers (e.g. company information, application requirements, jobs, etc.), and a question and answer session following the presentation.

Job Shadow Program

Career Services is seeking job shadow opportunities for our students in the form of group tours and one on one position shadowing. The goal of this initiative is to introduce students to the “real time, real life” experiences of performing in the workplace. We will transport students to and from the company location for group tours, and individual job shadow transportation needs will be met on a case by case basis.

Recruitment Table

Employers may schedule a table in one of our high student traffic areas to engage in passive recruitment on campus. We provide a 6 foot table and two chairs, and employers are welcome to bring any information or displays needed to promote their company and open jobs!

Students of Commitment Program

The Students of Commitment Program is a new initiative aimed to connect students and alumni to recruitment opportunities. Companies looking to hire for immediate open positions are encouraged to contact our office to schedule interviews with students who have been screened by our office through resume completion, mock interviewing, and professional development training.

Career Services Advisory

As today’s job market constantly changes, so are our efforts to ensure students are prepared in the best way to serve the tactical, cultural, and soft skill needs of the workplace. To increase our capacity in this area, we have initiated our first Career Services Advisory board! We are seeking local employers interested in offering knowledge and expertise to collaborate with our career development professionals in developing innovative ideas to prepare our students and serve workforce needs.

Our office hosts 2 large job fairs a year. These fairs include companies seeking all majors, and take place in November and April at our Belleville campus. In addition to these fairs, we also host targeted, industry specific job fairs at both our Belleville and Granite City campuses throughout the school year.
