About Our Services

Barstow Community College has partnered exclusively with College Central Network® to power its career management platform for its Transfer & Career Center Office.

College Central Network is a robust career platform designed to provide job seekers with employment opportunities and career development resources, while providing a pipeline of new talent to business and industry. It features opportunities for part-time jobs, internships, and full-time employment, making the job search experience easier and more productive for you.

The platform also provides a quick, easy way to sign up for career fairs, workshops, résumé reviews, and appointments with Career Services staff. You'll find great job and internship opportunities here, as well as relevant career advice resources, including the award-winning College Central Podcast featuring over 125 quick dives into specific career related topics. Plus, you'll have access to the Job Agent, which automatically matches job opportunities to your unique profile.

To date, over six million jobs have been posted by more than two million employers, who are recruiting candidates through the Network—their one-stop shop for recruiting!

For Students

Students have been pre-registered to use our CCN services.

Select the "Activate" link to complete the registration process.

Once you activate your account you will have the ability to schedule appointments for career and transfer advising, search jobs, create and/or upload your resume, create a portfolio, and much more!

Once registered, you may:

  • Search for jobs posted exclusively to Barstow Community College and search the Jobs Central® national job board.
  • Build a résumé with Résumé Builder, or upload a résumé file to Resume Central® so you can apply directly to jobs and/or allow it to be searched by employers (if you so authorize). Your résumé will be reviewed by our office and must be approved before it can be sent to employers or submitted online to posted jobs.
  • Build an online portfolio in Career Portfolio Central® to support your résumé and demonstrate your best work to employers.
  • Review your job search history. Report offers/hires.
  • Receive emails about programs, services and job-related topics.
  • Gain access to announcements, upcoming events, career advice documents, career advice videos, podcasts, and career articles from over 125 authors.
  • Search our Mentoring Network to find profiles of people who work in your fields of interest and contact them online.

This free, web-based tool area is designed to help students connect with employers looking to fill a wide range of employment opportunities.

Additionally, students are able to schedule appointments for career and transfer advising.

  • During a Career Advising appointment, a career services representative can assist you with job searching, job application(s), resume, cover letter, mock interview, portfolio review, and/or a career assessment.
  • During a Transfer Advising appointment, a transfer services representative can assist you with, selecting a major, information on 4-year universities, completing a 4-year university admissions application, completing the UC Transfer Admissions Guarantee Application, and creating a Transfer Plan/Timeline.

    1. Join by registering as an alumnus/a
      This will allow you to take advantage of all online services, including the ability to search and network with other Mentors.
    2. Create a Mentor-only account
      If you only wish to become a Mentor, Register Here.

For Employers

Our online Employer Services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

You must register your organization with our office prior to accessing these services. To register, click the "Sign Up" link.

Once your registration is reviewed, if it is approved, you will receive an email which includes a link to activate your account.

If approved, depending on your access level, you will be able to use some or all of the services listed below:

  • Job Posting
    Post jobs targeted to Barstow Community College students, alumni, community residents.
  • Résumé Search
    Search résumés of our students, alumni, community residents. When searching for alumni, your results may include community residents.
  • Portfolio Search
    Search career portfolios that have been prepared by our students, alumni, community residents.

EMPLOYER APPROVAL POLICY

Registrations that are false, inaccurate, or misleading will not be approved.

Registrations submitted by staffing agencies or third-party recruiters defined as "agencies, organizations, or individuals recruiting candidates for temporary, part-time, or full-time employment opportunities other than for their own needs," will not be approved.

Registrations submitted by non-U.S. employers will not be approved.

The following job types are not permitted:

  • "Pyramid" or multi-level marketing structures, requiring or encouraging the recruitment of others to sell products or services;
  • Jobs requiring candidates to purchase or rent any type of sales kit or presentation supplies;
  • Jobs requiring the candidate to pay a participation or training fee;
  • Jobs requiring on-campus solicitations, sales, or posting of materials, products, or services;
  • 100% commission positions;
  • Jobs that violate the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and/or laws enforced by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC);
  • Contract positions paid via 1099 arrangements where the employee is an independent contractor;
  • Private individuals or families seeking in-home, home-based, or personal services (e.g., babysitting, elder care, tutoring);
  • Entrepreneurship opportunities as jobs

For Community Residents

If you are a Community Resident who would like to search for jobs, you must first register by clicking "Sign Up".

Please indicate that you are a Community Resident on your registration form. Once registered, you may also receive emails about programs, services and job-related topics.
