1) Returning Applicant:

They do not. Their supervisor submits a hiring form to HR as soon as they know the student is returning.

How do they apply?

-Apply with an abbreviated online application, bypassing College Central

-The application is submitted to Career Ed

-Career Ed contacts Financial Aid and Financial Aid reports the student’s federal aid status

-Career Ed send the application and federal aid status to the supervisor

-The supervisor is then cleared to hire

Q: I applied to a job on campus. When should I hear from the supervisor?

A: It depends. Generally speaking, after the job’s expiration date, please follow up with the person or department that posted the job to see if they have chosen students they wish to hire. Occasionally, a job is processed before the expiration date due to the urgent need for student workers. If you are curious as to the current job status, please kindly contact the hiring supervisor.

Q: I qualify for federal aid. Does this mean that I automatically get an on-campus job?

A: No. All jobs on campus are available to students regardless of federal aid status. Therefore, you should put as much effort in your on-campus application as for a regular job application.

For federal work study eligible candidates, there are paid community service jobs in nearby organizations that only students receiving federal aid can apply to. These jobs will be posted on College Central, too. Look for job titles that begin with FWSCS. They typically pay more than on-campus employment.

You can also visit Linda Nix (nixls@millsaps.edu) in the Office of Financial Aid in Sanders Hall if you have questions.

Q: I experience difficulties with completing and/or submitting the student application form.

A: If you experience any sort of technical or content-related issues, please contact careerservices@millsaps.edu.

Q: I am an international student. How do I get a job?
