You Can Vote (YCV) is a nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) nonprofit and works to register, educate, and empower eligible NC voters. YCV is looking for Wake Tech students to play a leadership role in organizing the campus for the 2020 election, facilitating nonpartisan voter education and registration, and building community networks. Owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, all work will be done remotely from home until campus reopens and it is safe to begin in-person activities. Civics Fellows will learn new tools for remote organizing and acquire valuable skills in nonprofit management, CRM databases, and leadership. This position offers excellent experience for students preparing for careers in nonprofits, community organizing, law and government, and business. The Fellowship also includes professional development workshops with policy and nonprofit leaders.
Civics Fellows will be leaders in 2020. How will you make a difference for your community this year?
Compensation: Fellows will receive a stipend in return for ~10 hours/week commitment at $15 per hour or $150 maximum a week. Some nights/weekend hours required, but schedule, hours, and start/end dates are flexible. Summer & Fall opportunities available.
Skills and Experience: No experience is needed! All YCV Civics Fellows must be willing to learn and comply with all nonpartisan voter registration laws. You are a fit for this fellowship if you have
? A deep interest in social, economic, and political justice in North Carolina
? Strong verbal communication skills
? Demonstrated ability to take initiative and exercise good judgment
