WANT AN INTERNSHIP THIS SUMMER?
If you’re planning to pursue an unpaid internship this summer but are concerned about how you’ll afford it, then apply for the Tisch Funded Internship Award! Eight students will be awarded up to $3,000 each to assist them in gaining valuable experiential learning and professional development, independent of other compensation or financial need. They'll also receive internship application coaching from the TOCD staff, including cover letter/resume writing feedback and interview practice, resulting in valuable career skills.
ELIGIBILITY
In order to be considered for the Tisch Funded Internship Award, you must:
- Be enrolled full-time in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree-granting program in a department at NYU Tisch School of the Arts during Spring 2026, with the intent to continue full-time enrollment in Fall 2026 or graduate in August 2026. December 2025 and May 2026 graduates, as well as visiting students at Tisch and NYU students with Tisch minors are not eligible.
- Be in good academic standing
- Plan to obtain an unpaid summer internship at a nonprofit organization or other organization that typically has unpaid interns. Internships must be with US-based organizations or companies and cannot provide compensation equal to minimum wage or more. International internship placement programs, in which third-party organizations connect students with internships occuring outside of the U.S., are also not eligible.
- Plan to intern for at least 20 hours per week for at least 8 weeks between May 11th and August 28th, 2026. Please be aware that this time commitment makes the award incompatible with international summer study abroad programs.
- Commit to receiving summer academic credit for the internship. (If you are selected for the award, you will also receive a scholarship that pays for one summer credit.)
- Tisch students with F-1 visas are welcome to apply if they meet all the above criteria. However, they should be aware that they will be taxed at the time of the check disbursement. F-1 visa holders must also be aware of CPT/OPT filing procedures.
If you've applied for the Tisch Funded Internship Award in the past, you are welcome to re-apply. However, if you have already received the Award, you are not eligible.
DATES AND DEADLINES
*Applications open on Tuesday, January 13th, 2026, at 10am ET and will be accepted on a rolling basis until Sunday, January 25th at 11:59pm ET. *Recipients of the award will be notified by February 13th, 2026.
*International students will be taxed at time of check disbursement. All other student recipients will receive tax documents from NYU in January of the following year.
NOTE: The Tisch Funded Internship Award is intended for students with financial need and consists of a scholarship that is awarded directly to the recipient. It is considered part of NYU financial aid, so it may potentially impact an awardee's financial aid amount for the 2026-2027 academic year.
