About Our Services

Loras College has partnered exclusively with College Central Network® to power its career management platform for its Center for Experiential Learning.

College Central Network is a robust career platform designed to provide job seekers with employment opportunities and career development resources, while providing a pipeline of new talent to business and industry. It features opportunities for part-time jobs, internships, and full-time employment, making the job search experience easier and more productive for you.

The platform also provides a quick, easy way to sign up for career fairs, workshops, résumé reviews, and appointments with Career Services staff. You'll find great job and internship opportunities here, as well as relevant career advice resources, including the award-winning College Central Podcast featuring over 125 quick dives into specific career related topics. Plus, you'll have access to the Job Agent, which automatically matches job opportunities to your unique profile.

To date, over six million jobs have been posted by more than two million employers, who are recruiting candidates through the Network—their one-stop shop for recruiting!

For Students

The College Central Network is an online platform providing free support to Loras students and alumni in areas of:

 

  • Constructing resumes, cover letter, and LinkedIn profiles
  • Identifying prospective employers
  • Acquiring jobs/internships
  • Conducting an effective job search

 

Current students are pre-registered into the system. Simply click "Activate your account!" to set your password; define your work preferences; access the services; and download the app to your smartphone.

 

Once registered, you may:

  • Search for jobs posted exclusively to Loras College and search the Jobs Central® national job board.
  • Build a résumé with Résumé Builder, or upload a résumé file to Resume Central® so you can apply directly to jobs and/or allow it to be searched by employers (if you so authorize). Your résumé will be reviewed by our office and must be approved before it can be sent to employers or submitted online to posted jobs.
  • Build an online portfolio in Career Portfolio Central® to support your résumé and demonstrate your best work to employers.
  • Review your job search history. Report offers/hires.
  • Receive emails about programs, services and job-related topics.
  • Gain access to announcements, upcoming events, career advice documents, career advice videos, podcasts, and career articles from over 125 authors.
  • Manage your on-campus interview schedules.
  • Attend sessions on:
    • Community Work-Study: Using your skills to serve the broader Dubuque community
    • Study Abroad: J-Term and Semester options incorporate study, community service and internships
    • Service Learning: Connecting the classroom to community non-profits
    • Internships: Local, regional, national and international

  • On-Campus Interviewing
    In addition to posting on our Job Board, you may also post positions that involve on-campus interviews. An interview date will be scheduled after we review and approve your posting. You may then log in to check submissions, candidate status and schedules. On-campus interviews occur during specific times of the year. If you do not know our recruiting schedule, please contact us before posting your job.

Posting jobs and internships; and sourcing the resumes of high quality candidates are just the beginning of a vibrant, multi-faceted recruiting relationship with our campus! Consider:

  • Advertising your positions in The Lorian, our campus newspaper.
  • Setting up a display table in the lobby to the Dining Hall.
  • Contacting Jennie Weber, Academic Internship Coordinator for assistance in posting internship positions and recruiting student interns.  (Jennifer. Weber@Loras.edu).
  • Conducting campus interviews for internships and full-time positions.
  • Providing speakers to related student clubs and organizations. E-mail Ms. Kelsey Callahan, Assistant Director of Student Life, (Kelsey.Callahan@loras.edu) for a current list of approved campus organizations.
  • Connecting with our culturally-diverse student body through Mr. Sergio Perez, Director of the Center for Inclusion & Advocacy, via e-mail (Sergio.Perez@loras.edu).
  • Collaborating on research with faculty on topics of mutual interest. This could take the form of summer research projects or providing grants to support student learning.
  • Participating in the annual Mock Interview Competition (November), Area Collegiate Interview Day (October), and Launch Beyond Loras (February/March).
