Career Services reserves the right to determine which jobs are suitable for listing on our ECC College Central Network Services after consideration of the students’ best interest, the college’s potential liability, and the nature of the positions.

The opportunities listed are for information only. East Central College does not evaluate employment or internship sites for ADA, safety, or other compliance criteria and is not responsible for practices and policies at these sites. East Central College is not responsible for the actions of individuals applying for or subsequently employed at these sites.

Due to liability issues, the College posts positions related to career programs offered at ECC, but generally does not post 'home employment' which would take place at a residential (non-business) location.

(Examples: personal care, child care, tutoring, maintenance, etc.)

Postings from employers that charge a placement or other fee to job seekers will not be posted.

Job postings must include information that describes the compensation structure, i.e., hourly, salaried, commission (straight commission or draw on future earnings), etc. Postings for unpaid internships must clearly state that the position is unpaid.

(ECC Non-Discrimination Statement:

East Central College follows the guidelines set out by the National Association for Colleges & Employers (NACE) regarding third-party recruiters:

Third-Party Recruiting Policy

In providing services for third-party recruiters, college policy requires that:

Third-party recruiters operate in congruence with the college policy of Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action and do not discriminate on the basis of age, race, ancestry, color, religion, gender, disability, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation or national origin. An employer or agency using the services of Career Services understands that compliance with all related federal and state statutes and regulations is required for initiation or continuance of Career Services.

Third-party recruiters will abide by the Principles for Third-Party Recruiters as described in the NACE Principles for Professional Practice.

All positions listed by third-party recruiters with Career Services be fee paid by the employer.

Third-party recruiters will provide information about their operations and services to Career Services for candidate review.

It will be the responsibility of the candidate to contact the third-party recruiter. Candidate names and/or information concerning candidates will not be released to third-party recruiters. Federal law requires that confidential letters not be shared with candidates.

Third Party Recruiter Services:

Career Services will promote the job and pertinent information through normal channels which may include the website, posting on bulletin boards, referral to faculty and/or staff, and/or direct referral to students. The third-party recruiters will be listed as the contact and identified as an employment agency.

If a third party-recruiter wishes to interview candidates on campus, or attend career fairs, that recruiter will agree to abide by the above policies and to identify the represented employer(s) to both Career Services and potential college interviewees.

(ECC Non-Discrimination Statement:

1. Employers wishing to recruit on campus must have openings for bona fide jobs offering wages (hourly wages or salary). Compensation based solely on commission (straight commission or draw against future earnings) is not considered a salary for purposes of this policy, and employers with commission-based compensation are not permitted to recruit on campus.

2. Employers offering unpaid internships associated with academic credit may be permitted to recruit on campus or provide job postings. All internships must be approved for credit through the faculty in each program area.

3. Job postings must include information that describes the compensation structure, i.e., hourly, salaried, commission (straight commission or draw on future earnings), etc. Postings for unpaid internships must clearly state that the position is unpaid.

4. Open or advertised positions must not require the employee to pay for training, purchase membership or products.

5. Employer must have a physical presence within the college region, and may be required to provide a current copy of its business or merchant license.

6. The sale or promotion of goods and services on campus is prohibited.

7. The college, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to make exceptions to these guidelines or to reject any request from an employer seeking to recruit on campus or post jobs.
